Canelo Alvarez (54-1-2) is taking care of his mandatory obligations as he takes on challenger Avni Yildirim (21-2). There are some interesting points to bring up about Yildirim. First of all, he is now for the first time in his career being trained by a good american trainer in Joel Diaz. The word is that he has been improving a whole lot with Diaz as a trainer and he has been working with him for a while now. The 2nd thing to mention is that Yildirim is a big and strong guy, very compact. That was obvious in the face-off with canelo that he is the bigger man. Then there is the knockout loss to Chris Eubank jr where he was knocked out cold and really took a beating despite the fight only going less than three rounds. Now the bad part for Yildirim; He just gets hit too clean too often. His defense is to weak when fighting elite opposition. He will of course have improved his defense under the tutelage of Joel Diaz but we just don´t see the talent there to compete with the elite guys. To make matters worse, he is fighting perhaps the best fighter in game in Canelo Alvarez.
There is only one outcome for this fight and that is Canelo Alvarez to win this fight by ko/tko. There is just no way Yildirim will take the punishment for 12 rounds from Canelo. The question is when will Canelo get him out of there? This might be tricky because Yildirim has improved his defense a tad and he is big and strong like we mentioned. We might add an additional pick on the Over/unders on saturday but for now the Pick is Canelo Alvarez to win by ko/tko for a price of -1200 (1.08 decimal odds)
