Jose Pedraza vs. Javier Molina

10 rounds, junior welterweights

Jose Pedraza (27-3) vs. Javier Molina (22-2) is a pretty evenly matched fight and the odds reflects that. The oddsmakers made Pedraza a favorite but the gap has been narrowing since the lines were released which means that people have been betting on Molina. Currently Pedraza is a -190 favorite and Molina priced at around +130. We believe that Pedraza should have a slight edge and he certainly will have a small edge with the judges in case it is close since he is the a-side. Part of the reason why we think that Pedraza has the edge in a close fight like this is because of the fact that he fought as recently as July this year which should make sure that he is fresh and sharp for this fight. Molina in his last fight put in a tremendous effort as an underdog when he beat Amir Imam and that is a big reason why people are picking him in this fight. We have to remember that Amir Imam, as good as he is, he has been very inconsistent over the years and that is not to take away from Molina´s win. Another reason why the odds are this close is the fact that he is the natural super lightweight of the two. Molina even fought many of his fights at welterweight. Pedraza on the other hand is only having his 3rd fight at 140. (sign in to view our prediction & pick)

We have been discussing this fight for a few days trying to determine the best play here and find out where the most value is. There are some factors that point to Pedraza and others that say Molina in this fight. Our conclusion is that the fight will be very close and many of the rounds will be hard to score which will make it likely that the judges disagree on several of them. We think that at least 2 of the judges will have it a draw meaning that the result will be a DRAW. We have to remember that it is a 10-rounder and not 12 which further enhances the possibility of a draw. The Pick is the fight to end in a DRAW for a price of +1800 (19.00 decimal odds)
