Erickson Lubin is an incredibly talented fighter and he has rebuilt himself in a good way since his lone defeat that came at the hands of Jermell Charlo. He has won 4 fights in a row since then and his record now stands at 22-1 with 16 knockouts. Going in to that fight with Charlo, he was picked to win it by many handicappers and insiders in the game. He didn´t quite have the experience at the top level but everybody just knew how insanely talented he was and just figured that it would be enough to win. He got clipped in the very first round and the fight was stopped. The thinking was that he could box on even terms or better with Charlo but what was missing in that equation was what would happen if he got caught big early in the fight and we got the answer. He couldn´t take it. Hindsight of course is always 20/20. Looking back at it now, anybody would agree that it would have been better for the 22 year old Lubin to wait a few years and gather more experience against world class opposition before challenging for a title. He now faces a good solid fighter again in Terrell Gausha (21-1-1) who last fought in May 2019 against Austin Trout. He clearly outboxed Trout in that fight but had to settle for a draw. His other blemish on the record came against erislandy Lara where he was outboxed and knocked down but lasted the distance. Lubin is a -700 (1.14 decimal odds) favorite to win and Gausha is +400 (5.00 decimal odds) (sign in to view our prediction & pick)
Lubin is one of the very best in the division and like we said, his talent level is enormous. He will handle a good decent fighter like Terrell Gausha without any problems. The odds -700 (1.14 decimal odds) is good value in this fight on Lubin because we do not envision a scenario where he could lose. The Pick is Erickson Lubin to win this fight.
