Scott Quigg vs. Jono Carroll

12 rounds, junior lightweights

Scott Quigg vs. Jono Carroll is labeled by some people as a 50/50 fight although the bookmakers have installed Quigg as a just slight favourite. This is due to several things. Firstly, Quigg has had a long layoff from the ring with his last fight taking place almost a year and half ago and the second reason is that he has moved up a weight class. Then there is the fight with Oscar Valdez who was a brutalizing war over 12 rounds. The fans sure enjoyed it but it really was brutal and Quigg was mostly on the wrong end of the beating although he also had his moments. He ended up with a broken nose and a cut at his left eye, and of course the disappointment of losing. If it wasn´t for these factors that we just mentioned, Quigg would have opened as a big favourite over someone like Jono Carroll whose best accomplishment came in a losing effort against Tevin Farmer. He also has a draw with Frenchman Guillame Frenois. Carroll is very motivated and says he is in the best shape of his life. He is also a bigger guy compared to the guys that Quigg has been facing. But comparing the skills of Carroll to someone like Oscar Valdez, you quickly realize that the gap between them is enormous. Quigg has been competitive at that higher level while Carroll was outclassed at that level against Tevin Farmer. (Sign in for our prediction & pick)

Quigg is the better fighter out of the two and he should be well rested and healed by this time. He has looked in great physical shape during the buildup and his confidence seems intact which is crucial. Carroll is a very gritty fighter and having the natural size advantage, he will be able to stand his ground and fight back. But Quigg is the better boxer, and we see him landing the cleaner, harder shots to win this fight. The Pick is Scott Quigg to win this fight for a price of -165 (1.61 decimal odds)
