Julian Williams (27-1) is making the first defense of the WBA and IBF titles he won when he beat Jarrett Hurd and became the unified 154 pound champion. Most fans and insiders thought Jarrett Hurd would win that fight as Hurd was a 5/1 favorite going in. The challenger Jeison Rosario is looking to put in the performance of a lifetime and do to Williams, what Williams just did against Hurd. He is in the same position that Williams was in, challenging for the unified championship of the world in a fight most people thinks he will lose. Rosario has done well for himself and built up an impressive record of (19-1-1) with his only loss coming to Nathaniel Gallimore in 2017. Since then he has regained himself well and stayed active fighting 8 times over the span of two years. People are underestimating Rosario in this fight for the simple fact that he got knocked out against Gallimore and Williams beat Gallimore impressively. But the fact of the matter is that he was doing well with Gallimore until he got caught by a big punch and Gallimore is a big puncher. Had the fight gone the distance, he would have had a good chance to win a decision. We know that Rosario knows that this is a once in a lifetime opportunity for him so he has planned accordingly. He is coming in confident and believes he can pull of the upset. Julian Williams showed a whole lot in his fight with Hurd and answered a lot of questions about his chin, mental toughness and just showed what a quality fighter he is. Not only did he beat Hurd, He knocked him down and hurt him on several occasions and he dominated the fight. Hurd even passed on the opportunity to immediately avenge the loss which tells you that he didn't like his chances in the rematch. As hungry as Rosario is, we can confirm that Julian still has the same desire. He has trained very hard and is in tremendous shape. He is not about to let go of the titles he worked so hard to earn.
