Dillian Whyte has really improved a whole lot since he fought Anthony Joshua a few years back. He did good in the first few rounds of that fight but was ultimately knocked out cold in the 7th. He is facing Oscar Rivas who is coming in to this fight as the underdog priced at +350 or (4.50) in decimal odds. Whyte has been after a big fight against Deontay Wilder for some time now and has been his mandatory for almost 2 years. This fight came as surprise to us that Whyte was willing to take such a big risk against someone he perhaps didn’t have to face at this time. He could have just waited for his shot at Wilder and facing weaker opponents while waiting but obviously his team believes greatly in him to match him with Rivas and to his advantage, the fight is taking place at the O2 in London where Whyte has fought several times before. Oscar Rivas is still pretty unknown for most boxing fans because he hasn’t had very much tv-exposure in neither the US or UK besides his last fight with Bryant Jennings. He did very well and stopped Bryant Jennings in the very last round of that fight which shows you that he is able to fight fast and hard even in the 12th round where most heavyweights look faded.
Whyte is as tough as they come and his technique has been improving BUT he has looked vulnerable as of late. He took a lot of punishment in his two fights with Dereck Chisora and in his fight with Joseph Parker he was badly hurt in the 12th round and knocked down. Rivas is coming in looking very confident and his win against Jennings was very impressive. We think that he will be too much for Whyte with his high pace of fighting. Whyte weighed in among the highest of his career at 259 pounds and if his conditioning is less than perfect it is very likely he gets stopped in the 2nd half of the fight. The Pick is Oscar Rivas to win at +350 (4.50 decimal odds)
