Jermell Charlo vs. Jorge Cota

12 rounds, junior middleweights

Jermell Charlo vs. Jorge Cota is happening because Tony Harrison got injured and they had to change the date for the rematch of Charlo-Harrison and Cota stepped in. A lot of people were surprised to hear the scorecards announced declaring Harrison had upset Charlo and won his WBC Super Welterweight title. The fight was very close but most people ringside had Charlo edging it. Jorge Cota has the chance of a lifetime now to transcend his career and legacy as a fighter. If he were to beat Charlo he would put himself in a very beneficial position where he can expect a title shot sooner rather than later. He has a record of 28-3 and he has proven that he has a big punch with his 25 ko wins. His three losses has come against Marco Antonio Rubio, Erickson Lubin and most recently Jeison Rosario. Charlo has faced the far better opposition. He has had 7 straight tough fights and he has put in tremendous performances.

Jorge Cota is badly overmatched here. Jermell Charlo is just too fast and sharp for Cota. Furthermore, Charlo looked very good at the weigh in and he wants to get Cota out of the way so he can focus on getting his belt back from Harrison. We would be very surprised if Cota makes it to hear the final bell because he will be outclassed in every department.

The Pick: Jermell Charlo to win fight
