Canelo Alvarez vs. Daniel Jacobs

12 rounds, WBC/WBA/IBF middleweight unification

Canelo Alvarez vs. Daniel Jacobs is the biggest boxing event so far in 2019. Many people have been wondering if Jacobs can get a fair shake in Las Vegas if it goes to the scorecards. The feeling is that the judges and the NSAC are under a lot of criticism as it is so they have picked 3 good experienced judges. The same 3 that scored the second Golovkin fight. They all did a good job there and saw the fight pretty similarly with close scores. Jacobs has some advantages in this fight: mainly his length, reach and footwork. He has been operating at a high level now for some time and he is full of confidence. Canelo have faced taller and bigger fighters before and showed that he had no problems closing the gap because of his incredibly fast hands and reflexes. Canelo´s defence is also superb with great upper body movement. Jacobs in instances in his fights with Golovkin, Sulecki and Derevyanchenko showed that he can be hit cleanly and opponents can at times get close enough. Canelo has really developed in to an excellent elite fighter and we believe he will be the better man in this match-up. Jacobs will do good but Canelo will get to him more and more. There is a reasonable chance Canelo gets a stoppage in our estimation depending on how well Jacobs has made the weight. We are in for a great fight, that’s for sure. The Pick is Canelo Alvarez to win and unify the division.
