Christina Hammer has had 24 fights officially as a professional with 11 fights coming by way of stoppage. Shields has had only 8. The impressive thing about Hammer is that she has been a World Champion since 2010 when she won the WBO world female middleweight title and has had the title since then. Although a great accomplishment, when you look closely at her fights since then you will be hard pressed to see any quality elite opponents on the ledger. Certainly no one anywhere near Shields pedigree. Shields (8-0) with 2 wins by knockout is very athletic and punches harder than her record suggests. Hammer has the height and reach advantage in this fight but we don’t think that will be a determining factor. Hammer does get caught a lot against lesser fighters and although she has a good jab, shorter fighters has consistently found a way to get close and land punches on the inside. Claressa Shields will find a home for her fast right hands and left hooks. Shields is also busier and a more forceful puncher. Hammer is descent but she won´t have enough to keep her off. Both fighters go the distance more than they get stoppages so it is reasonable to believe this is a fight that sees all 10 rounds take place. The Pick is Claressa Shields to become the undisputed female middleweight champion of the world.
